Chem Prac Test Crash Orientation

Crash Orientation for Chem Practical test

Before the practical test
  1. Make sure you submit your folder with all the data sheet and flowchart prior to your scheduled test.
  2. Bring the assigned materials (LAB GOWN, DETERGENT, RAGS, TISSUE, HAND SOAP, 5 MEDICINE DROPPERS, MASK-for those with sensitive lungs)
  3. Be outside rm 108 30 mins before the test.

During the Practical test
  1. Go to your assigned position and leave your materials. Claim your glasswares with your class number and clean thoroughly. Make sure you report any breakage before using them. Familiarize yourself to the position of reagents. (Max. Time: 15 mins)
  2. Claim your answer sheets, folder and unkown from teacher.
  3. To prepare unknown sample, use a spatula full of sample (if solid) or half millilitre of liquid sample and transfer to a test tube. Add enough distilled water to the brim and mix. THIS WILL SERVE AS YOUR MAIN SOURCE FOR THE PRELIMINARY TEST for both anion and cation.
  4. Be mindful of the time. You only have 150 mins to work on 2 unknowns (UNKNOWN A: COLORED SOLUTION, UNKNOWN B: COLORLESS SOLUTION) and identify the cation and anion present in each salt. Submit folder and paper together with the vials before cleaning up.
  5. You are given the last 15 mins to clean up and return glasswares. Deductions will be made for those who did not clean their work area
